Experience-Based Classifications

Bronze

BRONZE CLASSIFICATION

Bronze Division – At the start of the competitive season, this classification is for the unit or instructional staff that is new to the indoor activity. The Classification Committee may also populate this class during the course of the season with additional units that demonstrate an inconsistent performance, communication, and stylistic responsibilities through elementary show design.

WGI EQUIVALENT – REGIONAL A CLASS 

Gold

GOLD CLASSIFICATION

This classification is for the unit that has had experience in the indoor activity and has shown progress in development of their program. The unit members can produce a moderate level of appeal and emotion, as well as being aware of the stylistic responsibilities placed upon them. The design is creative and coordinates the elements in a moderate appealing manner.

WHITE CLASSIFICATION

This classification is for the unit that is highly experienced in the indoor activity. The unit members are able to be consistent in both their communication and performance levels. They are also able to handle a strong sense of awareness and adherence to their style. The design is able to create a program showing strong originality and variety.

Blue

BLUE CLASSIFICATION

This classification is for those units who have demonstrated advanced skills within the indoor activity. Members are able to handle the highest degree of awareness and adherence to their style. The design offers creative programs, which show strong originality and variety.

WGI EQUIVALENT – A CLASS

Platinum

PLATINUM CLASSIFICATION

This classification is for those units who have demonstrated a depth of training and skills that are consistent to one another, and are more challenging. There is greater consistency in the range of skills and physical development. The design of these programs are often freshly unique and original.

WGI EQUIVALENT – OPEN CLASS

World

WORLD CLASSIFICATION

This classification is for those units that have well defined personalities and are highly creative and unique. Some very sophisticated challenges are placed on these performers primarily through simultaneous responsibility and vocabulary. Performers are very experienced and fully trained. They explore innovative program concepts and strive to set new standards within the activity.

Age-Based Classifications

Junior

MIDDLE SCHOOL & JUNIOR CLASSIFICATION

This classification is based on the student grade or age designation of the sponsoring unit. Units in this classification will be adjudicated using the Bronze/Gold criteria and are bound by age only, not skill level. Units competing in the Scholastic division are restricted to those students who attend Middle School or younger.

Senior

SENIOR CLASSIFICATION

New to KIDA starting in 2012, the Senior classification is an age unlimited classification. Units with performers of any age may compete in this classification.
