The Next Step in the Marching Arts
Starting Winter 2015, KIDA is proud to announce the next evolution in the marching arts: KIDA Marching Winds.
KIDA Marching Winds presents marching music ensembles in the same performance environment as indoor color guard and percussion ensembles to showcase their musicianship with any kind of instrumentation. Two levels of competition will be offered, one for scholastic groups and another for all-age independent ensembles.
Debuted at the 2014 WGI World Championships, KIDA Marching Winds will continue the Keystone Indoor Drill Association tradition of performance excellence and educational outgrowth. Based on the foundation established by WGI, this new medium has been studied for several years. KIDA Marching Winds will bring the same exciting competitive and educational opportunities to wind students that has been enjoyed color guard, percussion, majorette, and dance performers for years.
Students will be judged by the most skilled adjudicators working in the marching arts today while sharing their love of music and motion under the guiding principle of an educationally sound scoring system.
Beginning in 2015, KIDA Marching Winds competitions will be added to all KIDA competitions, with the season concluding at the 2015 KIDA Championships hosted at Chambersburg High School on March 28-29 2015. Full rules and regulations will be released the summer of 2014, but get an idea of what KIDA Winds will look like, you can view a sample of Amachi’s performance at the 2014 WGI World Championships.
