KIDA Membership Approves Rules and Bylaws Changes for 2015 Season

In April 2014, the KIDA membership came together to approve several Rules and Bylaws changes for the upcoming 2015 season. These changes will be documented in the KIDA Rules & Bylaws document over the summer of 2014.

Approved changes include:

5 Judge Color Guard Panel
Consistent with the national standard, KIDA has approved adding a second general effect judge to all KIDA contest for the 2015 season.

KIDA Marching Winds Created
KIDA Marching Winds presents marching music ensembles in the same performance environment as indoor color guard and percussion ensembles to showcase their musicianship with any kind of instrumentation.  Two levels of competition will be offered, one for scholastic groups and another for all-age independent ensembles. Cadet Color Guard Classification
To facilitate the growth of youth color guard, the creation of a cadet classification has been created. This new cadet classification is an adjudicated classification, but these units would not receive a score or rank. Judges will rank cadet units using a rating system (Good, Excellent, or Superior). The goal of the cadet classification is to provide young units with a performance opportunity without the anxiety of intense classification.

Championship Seeding
For the 2015 season, the seeding procedure for championships will be a combination of factors, including scoring and early season show participation. Full details will be included in the revised Rules & Bylaws document.
