KIDA Released Statement on KIDA Championships and KIDA Season

UPDATE: Since originally releasing this statement, the COVID-19 situation has escalated again and both shows this weekend (Gov. Thomas Johnson and Mechanicsburg) have since been cancelled. Read our updated statement here. THE 2020 KIDA SEASON HAS OFFICIALLY COME TO A CLOSE. The statement below has been maintained in its original form.

Dear KIDA Membership,

The KIDA Board has met to discuss the current situation with COVID-19 and the safety of our membership. It is with a heavy heart that we announce that following this weekend’s contests at Governor Thomas Johnson HS and Mechanicsburg HS, the remainder of the KIDA season is officially canceled.

It is with the utmost caution and regards to safety that we make this difficult decision. We know many members will be disappointed by this, and we are too.

That being said, any units who would like to attend one of this weekend’s shows and are not currently signed up, please contact John Karos at by 12pm on Friday. Units will be able to add shows without any penalties, only the $20 Show Host Fee. Any units who need to pull out of a show will not penalized or have to pay any associated fees. Please contact John as well as soon as you know. Because this is our last weekend, host units will be allowed to compete and not perform in exhibition. There will be no critique following the contests.

Thank you for your continued support of our organization. As we continue to navigate this situation, we will keep the membership as up to date as possible. We are successful as an organization because of all of you. We hope to see you this weekend, and if not, we look forward to a new beginning in 2021.
