WGI Color Guard Update: Day 1

3 KIDA Units Make Semi-Finals in Dayton; 2 Win Rounds

Day one was a great day for the 4 KIDA color guard units participating in WGI World Color Guard Championships in Dayton, OH. In the Scholastic A Color Guard competition, both Red Land HS (Lewisberry, PA) and Lampeter-Strasburg HS (Lancaster, PA) won their rounds in Dayton. Red Land, presenting their show “I’m More Than That” won their round with a score of 88.010 and is ranked 2nd among all Scholastic A Color Guards. Lampeter-Strasburg, with their show “Behind the Glass” finished first in their round with a score of 87.330 and is currently sitting in 11th position among all Scholastic A units.

In the Scholastic World competition, Mechanicsburg HS (Mechanicsburg, PA) competed with their show “Forever Young”. The dramatic performance finished in 6th place in their round with a score of 83.900 and currently has the ensemble ranked 11th among the Scholastic World Ensembles.

Today, all 3 units compete in semi-finals competition, with Scholastic A units who qualify (top 15 after semi-finals) performing in WGI Finals tonight in Dayton.

Also performing in Day 1 competition was the Towson University Winter Guard who performed their show “Hit the Lights” in Independent A competition. Towson University finished 9th in their round and did not advance to finals.
