KIDA hands out a favorite instructor award in each of the sessions during the championship weekend. This Is voted on by the performing members, parents and spectators throughout each session. The KIDA Favorite Instructor Award was named after Bart Sword after we sadly lost him in 2017.

 

Bart was passionate about color guard and KIDA. He started the extremely successful middle school program at North Hagerstown In the 1980's and was an Integral part in starting the Indoor program at Mechanicsburg HS through 2007.

 

Bart also judged and was the KIDA Color Guard Representative for many seasons. He took pride In assisting new instructors and helped to guide them through the activity. Bart was elected to theKIDA Hall of Fame in 2003.

 

We greatly miss Bart, his huge smile and loving heart. We are honored that this award being given to instructors throughout the activity carries his name in his honor.
