Color Guard Classifications

Open –

A – A class color guard units utilize intermediate level qualities in design andperformance. UNITS in this class would be competitive with the middle to top halfof WGI’s A class. This class will be populated at the beginning of the season withall units that plan on attending a WGI Regional in the A class or units that exhibittraining and design techniques that are frequently successful according to theupper level of the WGI A class criteria. Evaluation will be on WGI A Class Sheets.

 

AA – AA class color guards utilize intermediate level qualities in design andperformance. Color guards in this class would be competitive with the middle tobottom half of WGI’s A class. This class would be populated at the beginning ofthe season with all units that exhibit training and design techniques that arefrequently successful at the entry level of the WGI A class criteria. Evaluation willbe on WGI A Class Sheets.

 

Regional A – Regional A class color guards utilize introductory/beginning levelqualities in design and performance. Color guards in this class exhibit training anddesign techniques that are frequently successful according to the WGI Regional Aclass criteria. This class would be populated at the beginning of the season withall KIDA World, Open or Blue JV programs or Color guards that exhibit training anddesign techniques that develop to a moderate level according to the WGI RegionalA class criteria. Success in this class may indicate readiness for Blue Local A.Evaluation will be on WGI Regional A Class Sheets.

 

Regional AA – Regional AA class color guards utilize introductory/beginning levelqualities in design and performance. class would be populated at the beginning ofthe season Color guards that exhibit training and design techniques that are entrylevel according to the WGI Regional A class criteria. Evaluation will be on WGIRegional A Class Sheets.

 

Novice – Novice color guards are in the early stages of development and utilizeintroductory level qualities in design and performance. This class is based ontraining of basic skills and basic elements of design. Evaluation will be on theKIDA Novice Class Sheets.

 

Junior & Middle School – These Classes will be judged and scored according to theNovice Class sheets. KIDA will need to develop or utilize an already existingNovice sheet.
