Color Guard Classifications
World – World class color guard units showcase virtuosic levels of design and performance. Evaluation will be on WGI World Class Sheet.

Open – Open class color guard units display intermediate to advances levels of design and performance. Evaluation will be on the WGI Open Class Sheet.

A – A class color guard units utilize intermediate level qualities in design and performance. Units in this class would be competitive with the middle to top half of WGI’s A class. This class will be populated at the beginning of the season with all units that plan on attending a WGI Regional in the A class or units that exhibit training and design techniques that are frequently successful according to the upper level of the WGI A class criteria. Evaluation will be on WGI A Class Sheet.
AA – AA class color guards utilize intermediate level qualities in design and performance. Color guards in this class would be competitive with the middle to bottom half of WGI’s A class. This class would be populated at the beginning of the season with all units that exhibit training and design techniques that are frequently successful at the entry level of the WGI A class criteria. Evaluation will be on WGI A Class Sheet.
Regional A – Regional A class color guards utilize introductory/beginning level qualities in design and performance. Color guards in this class exhibit training and design techniques that are frequently successful according to the WGI Regional A class criteria. This class would be populated at the beginning of the season with units that exhibit training and design techniques that develop to a moderate level according to the WGI Regional A class criteria. Evaluation will be on WGI Regional A Class Sheet.
Regional AA – Regional AA class color guards utilize introductory/beginning level qualities in design and performance class would be populated at the beginning of the season with units that exhibit training and design techniques that develop to a moderate level according to the WGI Regional A class criteria. Evaluation will be on WGI Regional A Class Sheet.
Novice – Novice color guards are in the early stages of development and utilize introductory level qualities in design and performance. This class is based ontraining of basic skills and basic elements of design. Evaluation will be on the KIDA Novice Class Sheets.
Junior & Middle School – Junior & Middle School units will be judged and scored according to the Novice Class sheets with an emphasis on training and introductory skills. Evaluation will be on the KIDA Novice Class sheet.
